With its intensive six-month program, Fabricademy not only nurtures creativity but also equips students with the tools to shape a future where technology, sustainability, and design converge seamlessly. From forging lifelong connections within its vibrant network to spearheading transformative projects across disciplines, Fabricademy alumni push the boundaries of innovation, driving positive change and shaping a future where technology and humanity coexist in harmony.

Fabricademy’s diversity in terms of knowledge and skills paves the way for many professional development opportunities, setting the stage for its alumni to thrive in diverse areas which you can discover below.

Fabricademy Network

One of the most enriching avenues for Fabricademy graduates, lies within its vibrant network. A network built across seven editions of the program and based on principles of open-source learning and hands-on practice. By collaborating with like-minded individuals within the Fabricademy ecosystem, alumni can immerse themselves further in its community even after the program.

Such an example is the creative center S-biotica founded by a collective of Fabricademy alumni who have graduated from Fab Lab Barcelona over the past years. As a non-academic institution, this collective provides a fertile ground for the continuation of alumni’s journey of exploration, pushing the boundaries of digital fabrication and biodesign in Barcelona’s context.

Academia

For those inclined towards academia, Fabricademy opens doors to a multitude of opportunities. Graduates may choose to delve deeper into their areas of expertise by pursuing doctoral studies or even becoming Fabricademy instructors themselves. By imparting knowledge and nurturing the next generation of innovators, alumni play a vital role in shaping the future landscape of digital fabrication and textiles bringing together expertise from areas such as architecture, product design, engineering or biology.

Alumni that took this route are Annah-Ololade Sangosanya who is now focused on research and Betiana Pavon who works as a Fabricademy Instructor.

Industry Ventures

With the rise of digitalization and biodesign, there exists a growing demand for hybrid profiles that seamlessly blend creativity with technical expertise. Fabricademy alumni are equipped with the knowledge to thrive in this dynamic landscape, offering a fresh perspective to brands and companies alike. The students are taught sustainable materials use, waste management and digital customization in order to rethink the industry production systems. Whether this means collaborating with renowned fashion labels, material providers or driving innovation within tech startups.

Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration

Fabricademy alumni have the ability to transcend traditional boundaries, forging meaningful collaborations with scientists, engineers, artists, and makers. By harnessing the power of collective creativity, graduates can work head-on with pressing issues such as climate change and social justice. Through interdisciplinary projects, alumni have the knowledge to work toward paving the way for a more sustainable and inclusive future.

This professional path was undertaken by alumni such as Laura Civetti, Lara Campos and Ana Correa

Personal Growth and Impact

Beyond the professional realm, Fabricademy offers its students a platform for personal growth and self-discovery. By providing access to cutting-edge technologies and fostering a culture of experimentation, alumni are empowered to unleash their full potential and make a positive impact on the world around them. As much as bringing systematic approaches and regenerative design into their local countries or labs.
