The Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia (IAAC) is hosting a new online Future Talks LIVE! webinar presented by Tomas Diez, director of the Master in Design for Emergent Futures (MDEF). During the webinar Tomas will engage a conversation with Mattia Bernini (Precious Plastics) on an exploration of the futures we want to create and how we can enable them through the actions we take today. The webinar will feature a Q&A session providing prospective students with valuable insights into the course and its industry partnerships. The world is rapidly changing, and so too must our approach to design!
Tomas Diez is a Venezuelan Urbanist, Designer and Technologist specialising in digital fabrication and its implications for the future of cities and society. He is a founding partner and executive director of the Fab City Foundation and a member of the board of trustees of IAAC Foundation, where he is a senior researcher and tutor. Tomas has co-designed and kickstarted higher degree programs such as the MDEF Master (IAAC-Elisava). He is a founding partner and Executive Director of the Meaningful Design Group Bali. This novel initiative aims to intersect advanced technologies and design with alternative world views and cultures in Indonesia and South East Asia.
Mattia Bernini is a Design Director at Precious Plastic, a global community that aims to boost plastic recycling through open-source designs and knowledge sharing. Precious Plastic sees people as the key element in fixing the plastic waste problem and relies on their participation to bring about necessary change. Their solutions involve a combination of people, machines, platforms, and knowledge, and emphasize the importance of taking small steps that can be multiplied by millions.
