K Allado-McDowell

K Allado-McDowell is a writer, speaker, and consultant to cultural, artistic, and technological institutions that seek to align their work with larger traditions of human understanding. Allado-McDowell established the Artists + Machine Intelligence program at Google AI. They are the co-editor, with Ben Vickers, of The Atlas of Anomalous AI. Allado-McDowell records and releases music under the name Qenric.

Having recently emerged from the intense experience of co-creating a book with the AI language model GPT-3 during the COVID-19 pandemic, Pharmako-AI, Allado-McDowell’s experimental conversation tells us of a unique hallucinatory journey into selfhood, ecology and intelligence through cyberpunk, ancestry and biosemiotics.

In this session K Allado-McDowell will give us a glimpse into the results and learnings from this experience, also reflecting on the work by recent artists exploring the liminal spaces of cognitive exploration with AI.

With our Master in Design for Emergent Futures (MDEF) 2021 students, we will dedicate this session to rethink memory, language, cosmology and technology and the profound implications of new hybrid cognitive ecologies for the 21st century.

This session is free and open to anyone within the emergent futures community to watch. Please request to join the community here if you have not already done so to access this and future emergent futures community events.
