Digital Fabrication Internship

We are looking for a Digital Fabrication Intern to support our daily operations; we seek a profile with experience in 3D modeling and prototyping who is interested in the intersection between technology and design.

Fab Lab Barcelona is a research and education center part of the Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia. It supports different educational and research programs fostering innovation around digital fabrication processes and technologies. 

We are looking for a Digital Fabrication Intern to support our daily operations; we seek a profile with experience in 3D modeling and prototyping who is interested in the intersection between technology and design, and is able to deliver the following main tasks:

  • Support the different Fab Lab Barcelona-IAAC educational programs: assisting classes and students’ projects.
  • Support faculty in the preparation of content for educational programs and research projects.
  • Test ideas for new workshops and activities, iterate them until they work, and document them.
  • Propose and prototype solutions for improving the spatial learning environments of Fab Lab Barcelona.

Competences (Experience, Knowledge and Skills): 

  • Excellent communication skills in English, both oral and written.
  • Design experience in both 3D and 2D software.
  • Special interest in Digital Fabrication processes (3D printing, laser cut, CNC…) and prototyping of ideas from concept to reality.
  • Experience in computer science and programming languages such as Arduino or Python is a plus.
  • Interest in STEAM education, technology, digital transformation, and innovation.
  • Able to support the documentation of ideas, research, and prototypes throughout the design process.
  • Able to organize and plan work in advance.
  • Enjoy working in an international environment and connecting with young people from all over the world.

Conditions

  • Type of Contract: Internship Agreement
  • Non-Remunerated professional practice
  • Minimum 3-months, maximum 6-months
  • Part-time or Full-time, depending on availability
