This program involved students from the University of Gastronomic Sciences of Pollenzo, Fab Lab Barcelona and Valldaura Labs. The project showcased and allowed students to be involved in various lines of our research projects, focussing on ecology, education and creativity. The students learned how digital fabrication tools can be used for collaborative innovation in almost any field, through using collective knowledge to tackle each agenda.

This provided an essential lesson on how traditional agricultural methods can be translated and used as a reference for project development, by combining ancestral techniques with advanced and innovative technologies.

The University of Gastronomic Sciences of Pollenzo is based in Italy and supported by the Slow Food Foundation. The school focuses on the future of food, agriculture and is dedicated to sustainability to ensure a food-secure future for people and the planet. This was a 1-day program which took place at Valldaura Labs – which provides a unique space for an immersive learning experience – hosting organic gardens, aquaponics farming systems and more, in a space dedicated towards researching and learning tools and techniques needed for self-sufficiency.
